In Class Prompt #3

In class, we watched an episode of "How I Met Your Mother." I had never watched the show, but I heard from other people that it was really funny and I should watch it. The episode started with a man spying out the window with binoculars at another man who apparently walked outside and took exactly seven steps and smiled every night consistently for several nights in a row. The man who was spying on him didn't understand what was going on and went crazy. His wife was frustrated with him and eventually went to stay with her parents. The show proceeds with three guy friends talking about their futures for every three years and showing clips of what they expect it to be like. After they show their prediction, the show shows what really happens. One of the main, cuter characters evidently likes to have many different women in his life, but towards the end of the show, he decides that he wants to stick with this one girl. He goes to their apartment, which they shared at the time, and he hugs her and makes up with her and he explains that he wants to be with her and he wants her to be the only girl he is with and he smashes all his coffee cups on the floor, because he didn't want to share his with her. After smashing the mugs, he explains to her how he always had to walk out to the street at the same time every night in order to fart, because he didn't want to do it in front of her, bringing us back to the beginning of the show why the random guy saw him take seven steps, stop and smile.

  1. Taylor! I thought this show that we had to watch was hilarious and very funny! I thought it was weird that the neighbor started out looking through the window spying on the guy across the street kinda strange. But I thought it was kind of neat how there were 3 best guy friends that always saw each other every 3 years. I have also heard that how I met your mother was a good show to watch as well. But I feel like I never have time to watch shows since school has started back up now. But I am glad we got to watch it so I knew for later if it was any good or not! Also at the end it all made sense why the guy walked outside every night. That part was the best part and the most funniest part of the whole show!

  2. Hi Kari!! I agree I thought the neighbor was really weird as well!! While watching it I kept thinking, 'why on earth is that guy spying on him? leave him alone!.' I thought it was neat as well. It's cool to see the friends grow together and stay best friends, because not many people can do that. I felt bad for the one dark haired guy though, because he couldn't find a wife. It made the ending even better, though, when he found his wife and had his baby. I agree with what you said about the ending. It all came together with how the guy would walk out the building and stop every night at the same time and smile. It was funny, because I would be a little creeped out if I saw a man staring at me like that. I have never really watched the show on a regular basis, but I have heard that it is good as well! I completely agree with you saying you don't have time. My roommate and I have a TV in our apartment bedroom and we never watch it. Sometimes we will watch shows on Sundays and occasionally a movie throughout the week, but other than that, we never really turn it on. I liked the show, and I liked how we were able to watch it during class, because it was something other than writing and it interested me. I wish that we would watch more shows and movies during class, because it gives us something to write about, and it is something we can all understand.
