Miscellaneous #1- The Name's Taylor--Welcome to my Blog!!! :)

Hey everyone!!!
Okay, so I am new to this blogging thing, so you are going to have to bear with me. My name is Taylor, and I just created this blog for my English Composition class at Rhodes State College! I am majoring in Dental Hygiene, and I love it here already!!! I am currently living in Longmeadow Student Housing right off campus. It is a very safe apartment complex for college students with so many activities and things to do. So, if you are looking for an apartment or place to stay while you are attending college at OSU Lima or Rhodes State, I definitely recommend Longmeadow! I live with four other girls, and it has been quite the experience getting used to it. My roommate/best friend's name is McKenzie Nofer.

She is definitely my partner in crime, and we are pretty much attached at the hip most of the time. Not only because we are small town girls adjusting to the new life style in Lima, but also because we love spending time with each other and have so much fun together. I attended elementary and high school at Crestview which is located in Convoy, Ohio. If you have never heard of Convoy, you aren't the first. It is a very, very small town surrounded by corn fields and dairy barns, which is why living in a city has been very different for us. I have learned that you really cannot trust anyone and you have to keep an eye out for the creepers. (Yes, my roomie and I carry pepper spray at all times- just in case!) College has been a fabulous experience for me so far, and I cannot wait to see what my future has in store!!! I look forward to meeting all of you who have chose to read my blog!!

  1. Hi, Taylor!
I'm Danielle and I love that you talk about small towns. I've heard of Convoy and it is a very small town. I am from Delphos and I know Delphos is a small but I think you've got me beat, being from Convoy. I also, know what you mean by being surrounded by cornfields and barns. I live in the country and there are cornfields for miles. Also, good luck in your program!

  2. I also love that you talk about living in small towns. I live in Celina, it may not be the smallest town around but it is small enough for me. I am surrounded by barns and fields but I love it. I dont know if you liked it or not but I sure do. All my guy friends are farmers or work for a farmer so I'm sure you would fit in with my friends well. What made you decide to come to Rhodes and not another college? It is awesome that you are doing Dental Hygiene, I have a couple of friends that want to do that. I agree completely with you about the creepers in a town like Lima, no one is like that from where I am from. I do not trust anyone from that town. I hope you do good in your studies and never let anyone stop you from your future!

  3. Hey guys! Thanks for the comments! I know what you're saying about Delphos and Celina being small towns. I agree, but Convoy is definitely a lot smaller. haha There is seriously nothing to do! We have a gas station, two bars, an ice cream place, a post office, and a few churches. Oh, and a bank! How could I forget. I actually live in between Van Wert and Convoy, so it really isn't too bad. Alyssa, I have a lot of friends who are farmers as well. My mom's side of the family used to raise dairy cows, pigs, and crops so I spent a lot of time in the barns as a child. I enjoyed it, though. I like the whole small town environment, which is why Lima has been an adjustment. I know Lima isn't that big, but compared to what I am used to, it is a lot different!! I loved knowing everyone that I ran into and knowing that it was okay to talk to them. I decided to come to Rhodes mainly because I really wanted to major in Dental Hygiene. It is a very limited major with only several schools that offer it in Ohio. I thought about going to IPFW, but the out of state tuition was a bit pricey and it didn't make any sense to spend a ton of money for the same thing. Rhodes has a great Dental program, though, so I am really looking forward to it!!! What are you guys majoring in??

  4. This McKenzie Nofer chick, she seems...ehhh...pretty freaking awesome! I also like to think of us as partners in crime considering we have stolen a doughnut, jumped the fence at the fair, and snuck in to the Dierks Bentley Concert! You are a very bad influence on me! By the way, you are awful at climbing fences! Maybe we should have limbered up for that, seemingly, "difficult" task. I hope our itty-bitty scratches, that we like to dramatize, scar so that when we are old and wrinkly hags, our grand babies will be like, "Grandma! What did you do?” and we will go off on this whole spiel about how a dog was chasing us and the only way to escape was to jump a fence which just happened to be the fair fence saving us each a good seven dollars to buy a funnel cake and some deep friend pickles!
As for those creeps, she wasn’t lying when she said we carry pepper spray! We even practice shooting it! What we really should considering doing is getting targets to improve our shot accuracy. Shooting it into the sink isn’t a very good target seeing as we were coughing for about two hours after! That stuff is pretty serious! I read the box and it says to spray across the eyes in a straight line and the person will instantly double over in unfathomable burning pain in their eyes, giving you a good opportunity to really get em’. Then, of course, RUN! Hahahaha love you!

  5. MCKENZIEEE!!! I just called you McKenzie, I apologize. So, everybody, this girl is my best friend. We have been best friends since the eighth grade, and now we are roommates!! How perfect, right? Yes, we are partners in crime, because yes, we did steal donuts, jump the fence, and we did sneak into a concert. We might go to jail. Its okay, though, because we would be together at least. I hope I am not a bad influence on you!! I really try to be a good person haha! I think my scratch, or scar or whatever is gone, unfortunately. I will not have a battle scar, but thats okay, because I don't want my grandchildren to think I was that big ol' a rebel. That was a pretty good story about the dog. Even though it was incredibly unrealistic! That funnel cake we had was delicious! The pickles were just okay, though. I know you loved them! I wasn't lying about the pepper spray! i don't want to get taken! I don't really trust anyone, especially in Lima. Some people around here are CREEPY! Pepper spray is serious! I didn't realize how it would stain our sink and smell that bad! I guess we know that it should work now! I agree with the spraying in the eyes. How in the world are we supposed to spray it directly from left to right?! If i were getting attacked, I probably won't even be quick enough to grab it. Hopefully you are there with me and we can tag team! Love you too!!
